I had seen on social media an event I thought would be fun to attend. If you know me, I usually go to bed quite early so it was a little challenge to get out of the house again…
I had not been to the new Lyric Art Cafe & Venue, though the new owners are acquaintances of mine. So I figured why not. I need to get my butt out amongst people and not just go to bed all the time and do nothing. And I am so glad I went! The new venue is amazingly beautiful! I met so many people I had not seen in a while, sometimes years! I took this picture just when I came in the door, just 10 minutes later the place was packed!
I decided to support one of the food trucks parked outside. Something I almost had to regret… Looked at the menu and since I love baked potato, the Big Texan was my choice.
I saw the sign that the prices had increased, thought that $13.50 was a little hefty but didn’t think much about it… it’s a freaking food truck. Little did I imagine that the price change was not a dollar more or something like that but $2.50 more. I paid $16 for a freaking baked potato! No drink included. That is absolutely the most expensive baked potato I’ve EVER had. So I thought to myself, well if it is good, it is what it is. I’m not rich but I support another small business. And he had already started making the food. Suck it up buttercup.
And it did look delicious when I opened it up!
The meat was delicious. But the potato wasn’t cooked enough. It was stone hard in the middle. Sad to say, not worth the money… I now know that next time, I will try the other truck or eat beforehand.
So I sat down to eat my potato at a table. I knew that my friend Ash with Sweetie Pies would probably show up in a little bit as she had texted asking if I was there. At the table next to me sat a woman with a bunch of books and her laptop, it looked like she was either working or studying. We started chatting, found out her name was Frieda and she is an journalist and author, among other things. She had just picked a place for the night to do her work, not knowing there was an event happening so like me, she didn’t specifically know anyone… well for me it would turn out I knew a bunch of people that stopped by the table and said hi. Some of them I had not seen in years! It was awesome! And the music in the background was great!
Ash came and joined the conversation for a little bit before she had to return home to her family… but first a traditional selfie, right?
Me and Frieda continued our conversation until the cafe closed, then outside on the curb. We had so much fun… completely forgetting to take a selfie. It even started to drizzle and that’s what made us go home…
So, sometimes it is worth getting your butt out of the house. Tonight was one of those times. They will host this every other Thursday. I will try to attend as much as possible, I had a great time!
