Wow, what a week it’s been! The start of a new year always brings a whirlwind of activity, and this week was no exception. Between handling a slew of notary appointments and managing life’s curveballs, it’s been an adrenaline-filled few days. But let’s dive into the details, shall we?
First up, I’ve been helping folks tackle their new year’s paperwork woes. Notaries might seem like a small chore, but when it’s your responsibility, you realize just how many people rely on you to get things squared away. It’s been rewarding to check this off the list for so many people.
The highlight (or maybe lowlight) of the week was my very first traffic accident on Tuesday. Picture this: I’m in my trusty ambulance, rolling down the road, when a car decided to make an unexpected move out of a gas station. Instead of easing into the nearest lane, they gunned it straight for the left turn lane—right where I was driving. By the grace of God, there were no injuries. My ambulance suffered only minor damage, though the other car didn’t fare so well. It was undriveable, but the important thing is that everyone walked away safe.
As many of you know, I’m a proud horse owner. This week, my time in the pasture turned a little… eventful. On Thursday, I was feeding my three horses and their pasture mate—a rather moody horse who has likely been mistreated in the past. She’s known for her aggressive streak, but I’ve always managed to dodge her kicks. Well, not this time! She wasn’t thrilled about how long I was taking to get her feed ready, and she decided to take her frustrations out on me. Thankfully, I had a bucket in my hand that took the brunt of her kick. I walked away with a few bruises but nothing more serious. Let’s just say she and I had a stern conversation afterward!
The weather this week has been downright freezing! East Texas saw some serious cold, with the north side of DFW even getting ice and snow. I had a patient transport to Plano, and it felt like stepping into a different climate altogether. Thanks to my years in Sweden, I’m no stranger to this kind of weather, so I layered up, left the faucets running, and stayed cozy. Unfortunately, the icy conditions led to cancellations of E! Terrell and other events I had lined up. But on the bright side, I got caught up on bookkeeping and even squeezed in some much-needed relaxation.
Today, we’re celebrating National Hot Tea Day! Harlequin Tea is offering 10% off your entire order—no code needed. It’s all taken care of at checkout. I’m also making headway on the launch of our tea sachets, which involves a lot of hands-on work. With over 600 sachets to prepare, it’s been a labor of love, but I’m making great progress. Mark your calendars for February 1st, when we’ll host a tea tasting at Whisked Away Bakehouse in Terrell. It’s going to be a blast!
The Wills Point Community Market is just around the corner, and the excitement is building. We’re less than two weeks away, and the response has been incredible. Applications for the waiting list keep rolling in, and I only wish we had more space to accommodate everyone. If the weather cooperates, we’ll add outdoor spaces, but we’ll have to wait until the forecast is clearer.
You might have noticed that today’s episode of The Unpredictable Livecast didn’t happen as planned. My longtime friend Tone—who’s studying to become a priest in the Swedish Church—had to prioritize her studies this week. With two exams and an essay deadline looming, she understandably needed to focus. We’ll try again in two weeks, and I’m sure it will be worth the wait.
Looking ahead, next week promises to be another busy one. I’m planning to attend the Forney Area Networking Group on Tuesday and Wine Women & Wealth on Friday. Fingers crossed the weather cooperates, as another ice storm might be on the horizon. Whatever happens, I’ll be ready.
Thanks for reading and sharing this journey with me. Here’s to staying warm, staying safe, and tackling the new year with determination and grace!
